about me

Maja Barcot Sam Beck.jpeg

Born in Belgrade and raised both in Serbia and the UK, coming from a family of actors, directors, and film industry professionals, I was immersed in the Arts from a young age. I vividly remember dancing in the aisles during the first musical I ever saw (42nd Street) and from that moment, I knew I wanted to perform. I acted throughout my childhood in both Serbia and the UK, always with the goal of pursuing it professionally.

That ambition brought me back to London, where I trained at LAMDA. Since then, I’ve worked across all mediums, including Theatre (RSC, Globe, Arcola Theatre, Hull Truck, Nuffield Southampton), Television (Cobra, The Widow, Critical, Grantchester, Emmerdale, Doctors, EastEnders, Happy Valley), and Radio (The Archers). I’ve always had a deep passion for classical text and have had the privilege of learning from some of the greatest minds in the field, including Cicely Berry, John Barton, and Gregory Doran.

My drive to tell stories and create fun, relatable female characters led me to begin writing screenplays. So far, this journey has resulted in a comedy series and a feature film inspired by my family. It’s an exciting new chapter, and I’ve found huge inspiration in the stories of everyday women - narratives I believe deserve even more visibility and celebration in TV and film.
